Twitterpated

It's been a long time since I felt like this. I'm truly happy. I'm usually not a very depressed girl but the last year there has always been something hanging over me, just a little stress to make me not being able to fully relax and enjoy myself. I always have something to look forwards to. That's usually me lovely weekends in Edinburgh, but I always have the thought in the back of my head that I need to go back to Stirling and to all the hard work with school. Not that I don't love Stirling and the course I'm doing, but it is very stressful. Yesterday was one of those days that I just woke up and though nothing will ruin this day. I had had a good night sleep and felt wonderful. Things only got better once I opened the window and felt a warm wind hitting my face. The sun was shining and I just could not feel a single worry in my whole body. My placement is going great, I have a beautiful flat to move into in May, and spring is finally here. I had a meeting with Bank of Scotland so that I could finally set up an account there. Because the day was so lovely I decided to walk into town. It's only about an hour walk and I was lucky enough to have Chris joining me. After setting up my account we went shopping. I found so many lovely things and I probably spent a bit too much money, but who cares. You only live once and happy days like these don't come around often enough. It's the good feeling that can only come after several months of winter and cold winds.

"Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You're walking along, minding your own business. You're looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head's in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you're walking on air. And then you know what? You're knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!" Friend Owl from Bambi

Happy valentines day

Since my placement is awesome, they let me work on valentines so I didn't have to spend the day with my boyfriend having a romantic night out and then being forced to fall asleep in his arms (I'm not sure if people can read my sarcasm so I'm making sure that you get how much it sucked in here). I worked a standard 12.5 hour shift wiping arses and cleaning up sick. Good times. Luckily Connor did take me out to Caprice on Saturday to celebrate valentines then. I had the most awesome pizza ever and guess what! He even trimmed his beard!
When we got home it was Oreo cake time. I did take a photo of the cake, but it kinda sucked. The cake however gave me a mouthgazm like no other. On Monday Ciaran, Ciara and I paid the deposit for our new beautiful flat! Words can not describe my excitement for moving in there. I do think I'll miss halls a bit. When I looked out the window today for example and saw spring weather, sun and opened the window and didn't freeze to death. Now I'm on my way uptown. I have decided to walk since the weather is so lovely and I'll try (no promises) to blog more often

Orthopaedics

Again it feels like ages since I've written anything on here. Well, this time I kind of have an excuse. 3 12.5 hour shifts in a row. Don't have an excuse for not writing anything before that apart from severe laziness. I was chilling at Connor's flat in Edinburgh until the Wednesday before reality slapped me hard in the face and made me get out of bed and do some work. I dragged myself all the way back to Stirling and cleaned my room. We're not just talking about the simple picking up a jumper or two from the floor. This was the real deal. I was hoovering, doing the laundry, dusting, organizing and even ironing! When I finally was done it was bedtime. I've been going to bed at about 9o'clock everyday that I've been working. I was forced to throw my 10o'clock policy out the window to get enough sleep. Getting up at 4:45 is really draining. I'm not complaining though (ok, maybe a little), my placement is a lot of fun and I really feel that I've learned a lot in the few days I've been there. It's all on again tomorrow with another 12.5 hour shift then I'm off until Friday again. Because of the way I worked I could not go down to Edinburgh this weekend and man it's been rough. I'm so used to going that when I had to stay here in halls I felt like everything was wrong and I had no track of what day it was at all. I'll tell you more about placement another time. Today I took the bus uptown and did some serious shopping. I dropped by my favourite stores in the Thistle centre before walking along the riverside and ending up in Tesco where I bought far to much food for this week. I had to drag all those bags onto the bus and home where Charissa met me with a big hug. She had had a long day so let her have a nap on my bed while I was cooking for the both of us. Now it's shower time before a long day at work tomorrow!
Ready for my first day of placement at ward B23 (orthopaedics) early in the morning

Working class hero

Yesterday the nurses of AKD went out clubbing to celebrate handing in a terrible essay that made most of us want to jump out the window. I'm not going to spend any more time thinking about that essay, so I'd much rather speak about my night out. After staying up until 5am finishing my essay then being stuck in uni until 5pm it was definitely time for a party to loosen up. We had such a good night out. My alcohol intake was not over the top something that made the night awesome and today's day in lectures bearable.
I've also gotten my first shifts at the orthopaedics ward in Forth Valley. I'm working Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:30 to 20:00. This more or less means a weeks holiday from tomorrow. 12 hour shifts will be hard work, but hopefully interesting and educational.

My new crib

This is the flat Ciaran, Ciara and I are moving into 14th of may =D It's two double bedrooms and one single. The location and more or less everything is perfect about the whole flat. The photo of the bedroom is the bedroom I'm going to have, I never got the chance to take a photo of Ciara and Ciaran's room. So enjoy

Because I'm a good wife

So i guess it's time to update this blog again. I don't have much to say about uni apart from the fact lectures are draining, warm, boring and interesting at the same time. On Monday Ciaran, Ciara and I went uptown to talk some real estate agents about flats for next year and oh my it's exciting! I've never felt more grown up in my life. Well, I guess I never have been. We did see some we liked and we've more or less made up our minds on what kind of flat we would want. It was freezing in Stirling and after a quick trip by the job centre to get some help on applying for a national insurance number, we went to the Kilted Kangaroo for a drink. I also got time to squeeze in some shopping at the end of it all. The rest of the week I've been keeping busy not thinking about my essay that needs to be handed in next week and focused on making good food and sleep. A lot of good food and sleep.

One of the not so interesting lectures

I'm not going to lie, the man who marries me will be the luckiest man ever (well, when it comes to food anyway)

Friday the 13th

I have to say this. I suck at blogging. I know its 13 days since the last time I updated the blog and it makes me feel so bad. I'll start with a summary of what has happened since last time I updated my blog. At New Years Eve we went to my neighbour’s house for tea and spent most of the night there. Since my mom was working the night shift I had to say goodbye to her there and that crushed my heart. I was also really sick and that kind of didn’t help on my mood. We left quite early and watched the fireworks from our veranda at 12 o clock. After that I had to pack and go to sleep. I had to get up at 6 in the morning and said goodbye to Silje and them Dad and Tobias drove me up to the airport. I got on the flight and it was me and 23 other people on the whole plane. It was awesome having a whole row to myself. I kind of needed that after all that Christmas food. Getting home to Edinburgh was good. I didn’t expect to miss Connor that much, but I guess it was the Christmas spirit that tried to pull me back to Edinburgh. I spent the rest of the time at Connor's parent’s house. It was awesome staying there and just completely relax. On the second of January we went to visit Connor's aunt Jo. It's weird being at that stage of the relationship where it's natural that you go to the family parties and stuff, but it's also very nice. Apart from that we have just been chilling to the max. James came over and we went out for some drinks before I went back to Stirling the 8th. It was weird being back in halls but it only took half a second before it felt like I had never left in the first place. Now I'm back in Edinburgh in Connors flat waiting for it to be 5 o clock and Connors dad picking us up. I found out where my placement is and I'm looking forward to my 9 weeks at ward b23: Orthopaedics at Forth Valley this semester!

Aurora

After bathing at Huk today I had to run by Aurora to pick up my camera. I had a feeling that there was no way she had left the camera alone and man I was right. Thanks for the awesome and sexy photos Aurora!
Aurora has two blogs and you can find them -here- and -here-

New years bath in da Oslo fjord

A few days ago my mother had the most brilliant idea ever. Let's go bathing in the Oslo fjord! After bugging me I finally agreed. She posted it on Facebook and bam(!) my uncle and neighbour joined in. Unfortunately/luckily I got sick and couldn’t go bathing with them, but here is some photos and a -video- of it all (only for my facebook friends, sorry)

Silje and I use any excuse to work on our tan!

I’m not sure what happened to the last photo there =P

Pictures from the night out

I don't think the rest of them should be shown to the public =)

My little christmas

This Christmas has been weird. It's been different from what I expected, but still very cosy and nice. This year’s "catch" has been good as well. To be honest giving away presents is way more fun than getting them. On the 24th is when Norwegians celebrate Christmas and also when we open the presents. On the morning on the 24th Silje and I got on the train with my cousin Torbjørn and his girlfriend Sara to my aunt’s house in Drammen. I had a lot of fun with our traditional rice porridge with an almond in it. Just like when we were kids everybody got an almond and a little gift. Silje and I got a massive bag with us filled with food and presents. It was quite a hassle dragging it on the train, but it was totally worth it. We got home and Silje started making Christmas dinner for when mum, dad and Tobias would come home from the Canary Islands. I stood next to her and tried my best to look good and not do anything. at about 9ish at night the rest of my wonderful family came home. They we're disgusting and tanned. I was almost not happy to see them again. After dinner we opened our presents. Silje didn’t have time to buy gifts for mum and dad so we added her name on my presents to them. How sneaky of us.
On the 25th Silje decided to drag me out clubbing. We ended up on Blue Note with Patrick and my old boss Trond Erik. I had a lot of fun and too much to drink.
I suffered through a family party the next day. Naah, I had a lot of fun and family is always nice to see, just not when all you want to lie in bed and die =)
Today I spent the day with Aurora before going home and realizing I’ve left my camera at her house and Sandra came over here for a sleepover.

Mr Christmas tree

Today Silje and I bought a Christmas tree.

Lille julaften

The day is here. The day before Christmas eve! Lille julaften is what we call this awesome day in Norwegian. There are several reasons why I'm loving this day. First of all Silje is coming home today. We have so much to do like buying a Christmas three, last minute shopping and putting up all the decorations and also wrap up the last presents. Woo. It's going to be a busy day. There is also more stuff going on. Its 50 years since this awesome woman called Rutt was born. She's been rocking her way through a tough life, but has always pulled through whatever has tried to pull her down. She has given birth to 4 awesome children (one of them is slightly more awesome than the others) and is married to this really cool dude that's super tall. I like to call her Mom. So this is for her, since she's done such an amazing job at raising me (can’t say she did the same great job with my brother but still..). I love you mom and I hope you'll keep on rocking for 50 more year this you hit those awesome 3 digits!

No way, Norway

Waking up yesterday was weird. I was sure I was in Connors bed in Scotland and rolled over to cuddle before I smashed my face into the wall and was in extreme pain for 10 minutes. I had to walk out on the veranda for a while to look at the view I've looked at so many times before. It was beautiful but so cold I thought my toes were going to fall off. After breakfast Sandra and I went shopping at StorO after waking up at half past 3 in the afternoon. I'm not even sure how we slept for that long when we went to bed around 1. At StorO Sandra bought the last of her Christmas presents and I bought a new keyboard. It's not really fancy because (just like a true student) I bought the cheapest one I could find. After shopping we went to Sabine with a bottle of wine each. It was a really cosy night with lots of talking and a bit too much wine. There is basically no snow at all and I am really disappointed about that. I'm having trouble finding the Christmas spirit, but I'm sure it will come the moment I'm surrounded by family again. Today I'm going out clubbing at Club Mango and tomorrow Silje is coming home and I am so excited to see her again! =D

Home sweet home

That’s me back in Norway! It's good to be back. Plan of the night: pizza with Sandra; film with Sabine and Sandra; sleep. lots of it. There is something about travelling that just makes me exhausted. Then tomorrow it's.. ok, I haven’t made plans yet, but I think I’m gonna chill with Dharshika. Maybe also do some shopping. Most of all I’ll enjoy Norway =D
